Devoted Health Medicare Advantage in 2027: Where It’s Growing and What to Check Before You Switch

Senior woman reviewing Medicare Advantage options with a licensed agent
Devoted Health is adding more counties than any other Medicare Advantage insurer for 2027. Here's what that means and what to check before you enroll.
Table of Contents

While many large insurers are pulling back from Medicare Advantage for 2027, Devoted Health is growing. KFF counts Devoted entering 342 new counties and leaving none (KFF).

A quick definition: Medicare Advantage (also called Part C) is a private plan that replaces Original Medicare for your hospital and doctor coverage. Most include drug coverage, too.

Devoted at a glance

  • Devoted served more than 466,000 members as of January 2026, across 29 states (CompareMedicareAdvantage.org).
  • Devoted offers HMO plans, PPO plans, and Special Needs Plans for people with certain chronic conditions or with both Medicare and Medicaid (CompareMedicareAdvantage.org).
  • U.S. News & World Report named Devoted a 2027 Best Insurance Company for Medicare Advantage (Devoted Health).

Star Ratings vary by state

Medicare rates plans from 1 to 5 stars. Devoted’s ratings depend on the contract, which usually means the state. For 2027, some Devoted contracts earned 4.5 stars (including Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, Oregon, and Texas), several earned 4 stars, and some scored 3.5 or lower (CompareMedicareAdvantage.org). Always check the rating for the plan in your county.

5 things to check before you switch to any new plan

  1. Your doctors. Are they in the network for 2027?
  2. Your prescriptions. Are they on the drug list, and at what tier?
  3. HMO or PPO. HMOs usually need referrals. PPOs let you go out of network at a higher cost.
  4. Maximum out-of-pocket. This is the most you’d pay for covered care in a year.
  5. Hospitals you’d want in an emergency or surgery.

Key Medicare dates

  • October 15 to December 7: Annual Enrollment Period. Changes start January 1
  • Missed it? Most people can’t change plans again until next fall, unless they qualify for a special enrollment period
