New Jersey is doing things differently for 2027. While most states end Open Enrollment on January 15, Get Covered New Jersey runs from November 1, 2026 through January 31, 2027 (NJ Department of Banking and Insurance).

New Jersey’s extra savings

Federal premium help stops at 400% of the federal poverty level. New Jersey adds its own help, called New Jersey Health Plan Savings, for eligible enrollees with incomes up to 600% of the poverty level. For 2026, that meant up to $93,900 for one person or $192,900 for a family of four (Get Covered New Jersey).

If you earn too much for federal help, don’t assume you’re on your own in New Jersey.

Prices and insurers

  • Five insurers offer 2027 coverage: AmeriHealth, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, Oscar, WellCare/Ambetter, and UnitedHealthcare (NJ Department of Banking and Insurance).
  • The final weighted average increase is 19.8% before subsidies. By insurer: Horizon 15.3%, AmeriHealth 17.0%, WellCare/Ambetter 20.8%, Oscar 29.3%, and UnitedHealthcare 35.7% (NJ Department of Banking and Insurance).

Don’t forget the state mandate

New Jersey has its own individual mandate. Residents without health insurance can owe a Shared Responsibility Payment on their state tax return (NJ Division of Taxation).
