Ambetter Health is adding 55 counties and new heart failure, diabetes, and asthma plans for 2027. Here's what to know if you have or are moving to Ambetter.
Table of Contents

Ambetter Health is the Marketplace brand of Centene. It covers more than 3.5 million people in 27 states and is expanding into 55 more counties for 2027 (Ambetter Health).

New for 2027: plans built around a health condition

Ambetter is adding and expanding “Premier” plans designed for people managing a chronic condition (Ambetter Health):

  • Heart failure plans in North Carolina and Ohio, with $0 copays for certain heart failure medications and up to four $0 cardiologist visits a year.
  • Diabetes plans expanding to Louisiana, Mississippi, and Indiana.
  • Asthma and COPD plans expanding to Georgia.

If you live with one of these conditions, these plans can lower your costs. They’re not right for everyone, so compare the deductible and network too.

Moving into Ambetter? Check before January 1

In Florida, Sunshine State Health Plan is closing its Marketplace plans. Members who don’t choose a new plan will be moved into an Ambetter plan (Ambetter Health; Herald-Tribune). Ambetter is also leaving the Marketplace in Delaware and New Hampshire (Becker’s).

If you’re being moved, don’t just accept it. Check:

  1. Your doctors and hospitals are in the Ambetter network.
  2. Your prescriptions are covered.
  3. The price after your savings, and the deductible.
